Moved by the music

My friend, Joann Spies, is a very talented musician, composer, multimedia artist. I've been listening to her songs and painting to the rhythms. Here's another sample, digitally enhanced.

Musical Muse

I painted to music last night. It looked like a painting frenzy with wet paint everywhere.

If you're angry and you know it, clap your hands

I'm angry. PO'd. More than annoyed. Stressed. It hurts because I'm so angry. I want to yell and say bad things and use curse words. I haven't felt this angry in a long time. Years, maybe. I have a list of reasons why I feel this way. Too long and too boring to tell. Perhaps I'm feeling vulnerable. Probably.
I'm not going to reveal all here. Suffice to say I'm very uncomfortable. I tried to paint it out...couldn't really. Maybe I'll try it again- with music.

Senior Centered

Was feeling really crummy on many levels today; physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially--you name it. Was really down in the dumps. I knew about a painting class taking place nearby at a senior center and had thought that some day I might check it out.  Painting most often is transformative for me and I didn't think I would reach nirvana at home, alone. When I thought about going to a new place, with new people and at a SENIOR CENTER......I almost crawled into bed.
But after having a supportive phone conversation with someone dear to me--I went. And guess what?
I enjoyed myself and completely changed my mood! The teacher was very helpful and made good suggestions. Everyone was friendly, and I even created a picture. Thanks to all my angels.

RIP Staccato

The neighbor's horse, Staccato, and his friends, often escaped their corral and dined on the grass right outside my studio. I loved to watch them and hear them. I gave the neighbor this little picture of him as I heard he had to be put down. He lived to be 27. I was a little embarrassed as I came to find out this is not Staccato but another one of their horses. Oh well, I gave them the picture
anyway. I  hope they'll get a chuckle out of the story.

Doodled and filtered

Had fun in Deb's class today. We doodled. I have no problem letting the paint go where it wants. Came home and ran a couple of the pieces through the filters.

New Pathway

Been taking lessons from a master watercolorist, Marge. Love her. We're working on creating path pictures. Here's my first new practice piece.

Order from chaos

Had a wonderful Mindfulness group yesterday. Deb's topic was 'chaos/order'. I painted a few versions of my take on that. I found it more challenging to paint the chaos part. When I got home I took photos then ran them thru the edit program. Not every picture benefits from the filtering. Interesting

Am I cheating?

Creative Block-color less

Been feeling blocked...so I painted some blocks of color. Still feeling unfulfilled- so I turned them into black and white. Better

Me--Open Minded

Yesterday's mindfulness class structure was about drawing something in different ways. We chose an object and changed the way we drew it each time. I used myself as the subject and chose 'Open -minded' from a Deb-deck of suggestions. Here's what emerged.

Ouchee illustrated

Found a photo app that does all kinds of neat things. Here's a painting from last nite of what I imagined was happening in my leg. Effects added.

The power of doodling

Had a really rough day yesterday. Really didn't feel very creative. I knew I didn't have the wherewithall to paint a picture. So I doodled with paint. I find it very soothing to brush paint on paper. Circles fell mindless and comforting. Regardless of the result, I feel better.

Seeing the beauty-continued

I see the beauty in my condition. It's asking me to transform my discomfort
and dis-ease, in order to live more fully. It shows me the duality in all things,
and the irony of living larger by becoming smaller.

Seeing Beauty

Deb asked, "How do we see beauty?" And "How do we find beauty?"
My answer, By allowing that person, place or situation to be what it is. To objectively observe all it's parts, its colors, its vibrations. When I do that, the beauty shows itself. And I believe there's beauty in all things.

I see the beauty in the way nature works to bring balance and
order to all things.  Here the cells are gathering light and color
 to combat the disease.

Finding Beauty, too

Here's another piece from the mindfulness class yesterday. The theme was 'finding the beauty'. I think it's a very provocative and complex topic. It feels really deep to me. Fortunately, the class was small, and there were  only women who I know quite well. I felt safe enough to share what I did and got only love and compassion  in return.
I see my leg bandages as elegant ballet shoes, allowing me to
move gracefully and poetically in ways I never thought possible.

Finding the beauty

The them of our mindfulness class today had to do with finding the beauty in something that one might not think of as beautiful. It was a provocative structure that led me to express some of what I have been experiencing due to my lymphedema dx.
