I had a few 'practice pieces' ready to recycle. Instead I cut them up and pasted them in new configurations. The grid came first but I repeated the process to get something very different.
This is great. I like the contrast between the black lines that create the squares and that are all the same yet what is contained in each square is different. The first piece is very satisfying to me - I like that the pieces are contained in the square yet many of them have a fluid feel. I like the contrast between something contained and something fluid. And i like seeing the two collages together.

I like all this playing around. I love the outlined grids and in the next configuration I see someone tussling with a kimono, trying to get out...

it's like taking chaos, which is beautiful, and making order, which is also beautiful.
